A Shoote in the Wyldwoode

The Mongols and the Slavs are warring again! However, this time their ladies have interceded and made them agree to meet on our fields at Wyldwoode to determine who is best at Archery, Thrown Weapons, Fighting and the Arts & Sciences! Come one, come all to try your hands at collecting the points to choose the victors!

Our chosen site is the lovely Wildwood Archery Center, 5740 Fikes Rd, Elbridge, NY 13060. Site opens at 5pm Friday, September 3rd, 2010, and closes at noon on Monday, September 6th, 2010.

There will be archery competitions, including the 7 Pearls Archery Tournament and the traditional monster shoot for the younger crowd .

There will be thrown weapons competitions. There will be a heavy weapons tourney. There will be an arts & sciences challenge, with a theme of Baronial largesse (entries to be donated to the Barony).

Our Baronial Champions in Archery, Thrown Weapons, Arts & Sciences and Heavy Fighting will be chosen for the coming year!
We will also be hosting the 7 Pearls Arts & Sciences competition on Saturday.

In addition, Thomas Byron of Haverford and Ariella of Thornbury, Baron and Baroness of the Debatable Lands, have challenged the members of the Order of the Gage to join them in holding the field against all comers. Come and be among the cheering throngs, and root for your favorite competitor!

The highly-esteemed Edward the Grey will once again be offering classes in bowmaking!
1. How to Make a Bowstring - This class will cover making the continuous loop and Flemish strings. A jig for making the continuous loop string will be included. Two sessions of this class are being offered. Cost per student is $50, and includes the jig.  Maximum of 15 students per class.
2. Making a Flat Bow - this will be a hickory on hickory flat bow. Cost will be $175 for 5 or fewer students, or $150 for more than 5.
Edward needs at least one month to prepare everything, so a down payment of 50% of the total cost is needed. Reservations with payment need to be in Edward’s hands no later then July 27th , 2010. Down payment for bows should be based on the higher price, with final payment being adjusted if necessary.
Payments for Edward’s classes ONLY should be sent to:
Edward Breyette, 1021 Bowman Ln.,  Begford, VA 24523

Merchants are welcome, please contact Lady Fenris McGill ( Victoria Sampson) windsong@broadviewnet.net . There is no merchant fee other than site fees for all individuals working the booth.  However, you will need to bring your own tables and tents.
