Denizen of the Keep:Lord Corbinus de Cuvis, called Corbin
Device:
Vert, on a bend azure fimbriated argent a flanged mace Or Offices:
Persona:Corbinus de Cuvis can trace his ancestry back to a former Roman army Legionnaire: his grandfather was in the Twentieth Legion and after the Fall of Rome, only a handful of Romans stayed behind (they got tired of roamin’). The countryside was nice, the people were scared; life was good. Corbin, as his friends call him (his mother calls him something else entirely, and its best we don’t print it), was born in 1443, the middle child of four. Forever getting into trouble, he earned the reputation of being a rascal: his wit was as sharp as his blade (though sometimes it was decidedly bent as well as pointy). When he was old enough, his father sent him off to foster, to mixed feelings from the local womenfolk, and ultimately his Knight made him a man-at-arms. He soon found out that he would be the armorer’s best customer; though always up for a good fight, sometimes his enthusiasm overshot his skill, and he had to have his blade repaired. He got used to hearing “Aye, Crunch, is that you again??” when he headed for the armory after a particularly energetic training session. Business being business (and war is the biggest business around these parts), he found himself at loose ends when his Knight was unceremoniously separated from his head during the battle of Towton in 1461. White Roses conquered Red, and Corbin, being a smart sort, tucked his Lancastrian badge away and adopted the York one instead. Though not –quite- a Mercenary, he nonetheless worked his way through England as a man-at-arms, hiring himself out to assorted powerful lords while trying to ignore their politics. He got to wear his Red rose once more when Henry made another bid for the throne in 1469, but that fiasco was over almost before the cheering died down. Disenchanted with fighting on the side of a lunatic monarch, Corbin decided to take himself off to France, where life wasn’t a tennis match (merely a power play between the Dukes of Brittany and Orleans and Anne of Beaujeu. Nothing much, really…). Upon disembarking at Calais, he spotted a flame-haired wench on the deck of the Sea Witch and decided to abduct her. Little did he know she spotted him at the same time and decided to kidnap him as well. He boarded her vessel, she lured him into her cabin and locked them both in until the ship set sail. Corbin now lives up to his ancestry; alongside his beloved Maggie on board her merchant vessel, he’s Roamin’. Interests:Fencing, fencing and more fencing. Corbin has aspirations to become a Rapier Marshal in Training once he obtains all his authorizations. He also likes to test his mettle on the archery range.
